Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites is a beachfront hotel in Waikiki, though calling it beachfront is a stretch—it occupies a harborfront position on Ala Wai Harbor and Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, and guests must cross a street or walk a short path along the lagoon to reach Waikiki Beach. Pool Area The property offers two outdoor pools. The Lobby Pool, nestled next to the lagoon and beach path, serves as a fun gathering spot and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A dedicated "bather's" elevator provides direct access from pool level to guest rooms. Higher up, the Upper-Level Pool & Sun Deck features poolside loungers and views of the marina; this heated pool shares space with a sun deck, where chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pool towels can be obtained via each guest's room key, and light refreshments can be enjoyed at nearby dining outlets. Beach Area & Harborfront Vibes Situated directly on Ala Moana Boulevard, Ilikai sits on the lagoon's edge rather than directly on the sand. To access Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon and Beach, which was named the second-best beach in the U.S. in 2023, guests simply walk along the hotel's private path past the lagoon and cross a short street to reach the shoreline. Although the beachfront itself is public, registered guests receive complimentary beach towels and may borrow mats or boogie boards from the front desk. Surf lessons, stand-up paddleboard rentals, and snorkel gear can be arranged through nearby operators. Lifeguards patrol portions of the beach seasonally, but conditions can change quickly, so swimmers should remain aware of current surf advisories and exercise caution when venturing beyond the shallow break.
